Where is the urgency?

“Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture”

I am in my office reading Acts 2:29-42 and I can feel Peter’s frustration. I can imagine sitting in the back of the room and feeling the conviction as well….wondering what or where did I go wrong? I also ponder what it would be like to be part of the 3000 that were Jesus Freaks (youtube it). Could you imagine that city, that country? Revival. Revival was spreading like a wild fire. What was in their hearts to make them so passionate about saving people? I pray that someday 412 would get that fire. I pray that teenagers would get that fire. I pray that our church would get that fire. I pray for our country to get that fire. I pray, for myself to get that fire. If we could lose our programs, our preconceived ideas of church, our insecurities…..that would be the church that you find in Acts! I am tired. I am tired of preaching to a see of blank faces that are so worried about their social status. I am tired of seeing young people with no hope. What if today was the last day on earth? What if you knew that at 11:59pm the world was coming to an end. What would you do, what would I do….differently today? That’s the urgency that Peter had in the Bible. That’s the conviction. That’s the goal! Instead, we sit on the couch and pretend that everything is great and that there aren’t people in need. That sucks. That’s wrong. May God forgive us, and give us another chance today to make a difference. May we become like the 3000. What if we lived in the light? There is a saying I use at 412 and it’s simple….may we be the example.

Greetings. AMEN! Never has the urgency been greater and yet never has the indifference to the urgency been greater than today. Tragically, I’m convinced that II Thessalonians 2:3 is taking place before us. The title of this post says it all. Thanks.

Have a blessed day in Jesus.

[...] “WHERE IS THE URGENCY?”  I found this post a few minutes ago.  It’s a heartfelt plea for the saints of God to wake up and realize the lateness of the hour. [...]

I feel your frustration and think the same thing when I’m walking down the street, riding on the subway, sitting in the office at work, etc. just observing those around me (especially the youth!) – but as GOD said, it would as in the time of Noah…men going about their business as usual, fretting about everything but the most important aspect of life – salvation.

As the LORD warned His disciples (us included) in Luke 21:34, “…take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day (of His return to earth) come upon you unawares.”

My friend, my brother, pray. Perhaps the Spirit will move you to give your congregation the words that are burning in you: “I am tired. I am tired of preaching to a sea of blank faces that are so worried about their social status. I am tired of seeing young people with no hope. What if today was the last day on earth? What if you knew that at 11:59pm the world was coming to an end. What would you do, what would I do….differently today?”

What’s the worst that could happen? – You offend some people? Good. Have you ever heard this sermon: http://lavrai.com/blogs/2008/03/31/good-people-still-wind-up-cut-off-from-jesus-the-christ/

And, my brother, I tell, GOD is surely pouring out HIS Spirit among HIS people. Pray that you will be found worthy and bold enough to accept it… as I always do.
